What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of the body's soft tissues and joints using traditional manual manipulation techniques. This therapy prevents physical dysfunction, reduces pain and enhances over all well- being.
What Are Some Benefits of Massage Therapy?
Physical:
Massage therapy is designed to stretch and loosen tight muscles, improve blood flow as well as increase the drainage and cleansing ability of our lymphatic system. Increases in circulation within our lymphatic system not only facilitates the removal of metabolic waste, resulting from exercise or inactivity, but also increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to all cells and tissues in the body. The release of endorphins, resulting from massage therapy, is paramount for improved well-being and hormonal balance.
Mental:
Massage therapy provides a relaxed mental state resulting in reduced emotional stress. The reduction of stress has been highlighted in reestablishing chemical homeostasis within our body‚s many metabolic systems.
Emotional:
The human touch creates a feeling and sense of well being. The most amazing attribute of the human touch is its‚ ability to help reduce anxiety. The human touch has also been shown as a primary factor for efficient and proper metabolic and neurological activity in all living cells.
Who Benefits?
People of all ages can benefit. Individual evaluation and treatment plans are created for each particular client.
Does It Hurt?
Massage should never hurt. If feelings of discomfort are experienced during a treatment, direct communication with the therapist is encouraged.
